Let’s talk about summer vacation essentials! Keep reading for the best of hiking, clothing, and beauty for summer 2022!

If you’ve heard me say it once, you’ve heard me say it a million times: I am SO ready for summer! Temps in North Carolina are finally inching up and I think the warm weather is here to stay. We’ve got our summer trip planned and I’m so excited for some impromptu beach trips and weekend hikes! What do you have planned this summer?
Every new season, I feel like I just need to shop and overhaul all of last season’s things. I usually don’t do this for financial reasons… and because I’m not particularly a stylish person haha! I wear the same things on repeat all the time so fast fashion is wasted on me. BUT that doesn’t mean we don’t need to refresh our wardrobes and get ready for the new season!
I wanted to share some things you might want before summer comes along. Whether you are jetting off to Europe or just exploring your own backyard, you’ll find something helpful here. The main focus is hiking and outdoor adventure because those are my ~fortes~ (did I spell that right?!) but I had to share some other items I am loving, too!
Please remember you don’t have to go out and buy the latest and greatest of everything. Especially when it comes to clothing, I love utilizing Thred Up (not sponsored, but I wish it was!) because it’s good for my wallet and the environment. Also shop your own closet/bathroom and use what you have.
Let’s get on to the fun stuff, shall we? Without further ado, here are my summer vacation essentials!
HIKING

Smartwool socks: I have weirdly sweaty feet. Luckily, they don’t smell bad but it’s just unpleasant. Is that TMI? Smartwool socks are the BEST, especially for hiking. They’re sweat wicking and also perfectly padded so you don’t get blisters.
Stainless steel water bottle: It keeps your water cold and doesn’t have weird things that plastic bottles do. Enough said.
Snacks: This one is self-explanatory but I wanted to add it because you need these grown up fig bars in your life.
Athleta shorts: I’m an Athleta snob and don’t care who knows it! They are the perfect length, don’t ride up, and are very comfy. Big fan.
Sweat wicking shirts: Because it’s hot and sweat on cotton ain’t it, y’all.
TRAVEL

Short and sweet in the travel must haves category. I am always on the lookout for better travel hacks. PLEASE comment and tell me your must have travel items! But here are just a few 🙂
TSA Pre-check: I slept on pre-check for so long and now I tell basically everyone I know about it. $85 for 5 years?! It’s a no brainer.
Ps- if we go to the airport and you don’t have pre-check I will absolutely leave you in security (it’s not personal, I’m just impatient)
Brevite backpack: Can you be in love with a backpack? Because I’m in love with this backpack. It’s lightweight and compact yet I can pack for an entire weekend trip with just this bag. I also love the camera compartments that are customizable. There’s also a phone pocket, laptop sleeve, and room for snacks.
Kindle: Surely you are living under a rock if you’re an avid reader and don’t have a Kindle? Look, I know the excuse. “I like holding a paper book!” That was my excuse too. But now I’m a Kindle lover and I’m never going back. You can fit, like, 100 books in your carry on if you just load them all on your Kindle!
CLOTHING

I could call this category “fashion” but I really don’t think that word should be used in any near proximity to me. I try but it just doesn’t work. So clothing I like and recommend but is probably not “fashionable” 😛
Nuuly subscription: I mentioned above that I am just not good at fast fashion or trends. I LOVE having a Nuuly subscription because I can get 6 new items every month for any event or trip and then just switch them out the next month! Saves me money and shopping time. (I hate shopping)
Comfy Travel Jumpsuit : A jumpsuit is so easy and chic for travel days! (except when you have to go potty)
Agolde Parker jean shorts: Not too short and super flattering on every body type, it’s the elusive perfect fitting jean short!
Birkenstock Malaya: I’ve had 2 different pairs of this sandal over the last several years and I will be buried wearing a pair (probably). They’re so comfortable and hold up so well
Wide brim hat: Sun protection, ya’ll!!!
Aerie swimsuit: I have seen this on a few different ~influencers~ and I swear, it looks good on everyone.
BEAUTY

I’m no beauty expert, so I’ll keep this one short and sweet. Just a few recs I can’t live without in the Summer!
Sunscreen
I hope you are wearing sunscreen every single day, my friend!!! I have tried a lot of different facial sunscreens in my day and there are a couple I go back to often. No weird white cast over here.
Isle of Paradise drops: So easy to use and basically fool proof. The only self-tanner I can actually maintain.
RMS Buriti bronzer: THE BEST sun kissed glow. I love the cream formula because it seems easier to apply?

Alright, my very first product round up on the blog! How’d I do? I hope some of these summer vacation essentials products can help you into the summertime! I’m always on the lookout for things I need to make summer and travel easier. What are your favorite products? I’m all ears!
