This post is a bit different than my normal travel related posts, but it’s my blog and I get to do what I want! Beautycounter and clean products is a huuuuge part of my life and something I often help others with so why not share with the Ashley on the Move community? Today, I’m outlining one of the most popular products for you in this review of Beautycounter’s Overnight Resurfacing Peel. Is it worth the hype?

The overnight resurfacing peel is one of the first products I got to try as a brand new Beautycounter consultant. I was a little skeptical, because it boasts some pretty amazing benefits. No way it’s that good? Spoiler alert: It is. So let’s get into the overnight resurfacing peel review, shall we?
Table of Contents
What is the overnight resurfacing peel?
Beautycounter’s Counter+ Overnight Resurfacing Peel is a leave on chemical peel that uses gentle, yet powerful acids to exfoliate your skin and reveal glowing, bright fresh skin in the morning when you wipe it away. It features glycolic acid, lactic acid, citric acid, and arginine and fatty acids that work together to produce desired results.
Benefits of the peel include:

- increasing cell turnover to rid of dead surface skin cells
- reduce fine lines
- reduce pore size
- improve brightness and improve dullness
- smoother skin
- gently exfoliating
For the science loving gals (or just curious Cathys)…
- Glycolic acid works to improve skin texture, resurface skin cells, and exfoliate
- Lactic acid stimulates cell renewal for radiance and smoothness
- Citric acid brightens, renews, and refines skin
- Arginine and fatty acids condition and moisturize skin
The overnight peel also has malic, phytic, and ascorbic acid to gently resurface. To hydrate, Beautycounter formulated the peel with sodium hyaluronate versus hyaluronic acid. This is because sodium hyaluronate is a smaller molecule, so it’s more easily absorbed into the skin.
What makes it “clean?”
Beautycounter bans over 1800+ harmful or potentially harmful ingredients through a rigorous 5 step screening process. The Overnight Resurfacing Peel is free of PEGs, formaldehyde releasing preservatives, and provides soothing acids as to not be irritating. It is free of fragrance (which is often used as a loophole to add any ingredient you want without disclosing it!) and is safe for pregnancy!
It’s also clean in that it’s cruelty free and vegan. You can also recycle the paper box it comes in and the glass bottle once you’re finished using Terracycle.
Does the overnight resurfacing peel work?
Here’s what I’ve noticed since using the Overnight Resurfacing Peel 2-3x per week:
- Smoother, softer skin
- Less dull and more bright, especially the morning after I use it
- Reduced pore size, especially on my nose
Here’s a picture with no make up. Totally fine, right? But you can clearly see my pores and freckles/sun spots on my nose.

Here’s a picture the morning AFTER using the Overnight Resurfacing Peel. I have on mascara and brow gel, but other than that I’ve only used moisturizer and sunscreen. So much brighter and smoother.

I get the MOST compliments on my skin when I use the overnight resurfacing peel and the supreme cream at night, followed by the adaptive moisturizer with a dot of brightening oil in the morning! It makes my skin truly glow.
How do I use the Overnight Resurfacing Peel?
While it’s a bit pricy for some, a little goes a LONG way. A bottle of the overnight peel will often last me 6-8 months with consistent use.
You only use 1-3 pumps (I find one pump is plenty, but 2 may be better if you use it on your hands and neck as well) and you use it 2-3x per week in the PM only.

The key here is to apply it after cleansing and prepping with a toner. This is your “treat” step, so it comes third in your skincare routine. Apply it alllll over your face and neck. If I have extra product leftover, I like to put it on the backs of my hands! Then I let it dry for 3-5 minutes. I’ll usually brush my teeth or change into pajamas or fold laundry while I wait for it to dry. It will feel tingly, which is a little off-putting to some but I like it! It makes me feel like it’s really working, ha. Then I follow up with a nice hydrating night cream (the Countertime Supreme Cream is my favorite!)
Go to sleep, and in the morning just wash your face like normal. You’ll immediately see results. At least, I did! That is one of my favorite thing about this product… you don’t have to wait 6-8 weeks to really get the benefits. Although, being consistent is key to seeing the more significant changes like reduced fine lines and reduced pore size.
Helpful Tips for using the Overnight Resurfacing Peel
- Follow up with a moisturizer. You need this to protect and hydrate your skin.
- You should be wearing a sunscreen everyday, but ESPECIALLY use a daily sunscreen while using this product.
- Skip facial oils the night you use this product. It may reduce the effectiveness.
- It is safe for pregnancy, but as always be sure to check with your physician.
- If the tingly is super intense the first night, don’t use it every other night but wait 4-5 nights before using it again. You can build up your tolerance to 4-5x per week!

So, do I recommend the Overnight Resurfacing Peel?
Yes, yes I do! It’s one of my favorite Beautycounter products. I especially love that this is something you can add in to any skincare routine, no matter what brand. It’s a great starting point with some amazing skin benefits.
You can also get the Overnight Peel for free as a Band of Beauty member…
How can I save money on the peel?
If you are looking to either switch your products to safer OR just want to save money, and plan to make 2-3+ purchases with Beautycounter, I HIGHLY recommend joining Band of Beauty. Band of Beauty is our membership loyalty program, much like Amazon Prime. It costs $29 for a one year membership and the benefits are great.
Membership includes:
